Isn’t it wonderful how our lives are intertwined.   The other day in our minister’s meeting, David Simpson, minister of Lanier Christian Church, Gainesville, Georgia read an article which had appeared in the newsletter of the Central Christian Church, St. Petersburg, Florida, many years ago, placed there by Minister, Curt Hess.  Curt had a long, fruitful ministry in St. Petersburg.  He died some years back.
I knew Curt as a camper at Rock Lake Christian Assembly in Vestaburg, Michigan.  I was probably 15 or 16 years old and Curt was a Seminary student helping in this Christian Youth Camp.  When I served in Florida, Curt was serving in St. Petersburg.  We shared together in many activities. I have been in meetings with Curt when he read this article.  We were dear friends.
I am glad that David Simpson knew Curt and saved this article.  I share it now with you.

“People are illogical, unreasonable and self-centered..LOVE AND TRUST THEM ANYWAY.
If you do good, people will accuse you of having selfish, ulterior motives…DO GOOD ANYWAY.
If you are successful, you win false friend and true enemies…SUCCEED ANYWAY.
The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow…DO GOOD ANYWAY.
Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable…BE HONEST AND FRANK ANYWAY.
The biggest men with the biggest ideas can be shot down by the smallest men with the smallest minds…THINK BIG ANYWAY.
People favor underdogs, but follow only top dogs…FIGHT FOR A FEW UNDERDOGS ANYWAY.
What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight…BUILD ANYWAY.
People really need help, but may attack you if you help them…HELP THEM ANYWAY.
Give the world the best you have, and you’ll get kicked in the teeth…GIVE THE WORLD THE BEST YOU HAVE ANYWAY.”

A lot of thought in that article.  Someone has said, “Be true to God and you can be false to no man.”

Peter and John were warned not to speak or teach in the name of Jesus. “But Peter and John replied, “Judge for yourselves whether it is right in God’s sight to obey you rather than God.  For we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard.”  Acts 4:19-20   When people oppose you because you stand for Jesus, stand for Him anyway.

Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were threatened to be thrown in a blazing furnace if they did not worship the false god of Nebuchadnezzar.  They replied, “If we are thown into the blazing furnance, the God we serve is able to save us from it, and he will rescue us from your hand, O King. But, even if he does not, we want you to know, O King, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.”  Daniel 3:17-18  No matter the circumstances, be faithful to Jesus anyway.

“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.”  Colossians 3:17
