“YOUR SPIRITUAL HOUSE”

I THESSALONIANS 1: 1-10

First Thessalonians  1: 2-3  FAITH THAT WORKS  (Foundation)

Hebrews 11: 6  “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”

Romans 10:17  “Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ.”

James 2: 18  “But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.” Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do.”

First Thessalonians 1: 2-3  LOVE THAT LABORS  (Structure)

I Corinthians 13: 1-8a  “If I speak in the tongues£ of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames,£ but have not love, I gain nothing.”
4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8Love never fails.”

First Thessalonians 1: 2-3  HOPE THAT ENDURES  (Roof)

Hebrews 6: 19-20   “We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, 20where Jesus, who went before us, has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.”

Romans 8: 23-25  “Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies.  24For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he already has? 25But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.”

First Thessalonians 1:4-9   CHOSEN (DIVINE ELECTION)   BY GOSPEL  (Free choice)

Romans 1: 16  “I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.”

I Thessalonians 2:13  “And we will never stop thanking God that when we preached his message to you, you didn’t think of the words we spoke as being just our own. You accepted what we said as the very word of God—which, of course, it was. And this word continues to work in you who believe.”

First Thessalonians  1: 10  SECOND COMING OF JESUS   (Hope)

I Thessalonians 4: 16-18  “For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. 18Therefore encourage each other with these words.”
