As I was going through my Christmas file, I found this article.  I do not know who wrote it.  I thought it was good and want to share it with you. If you know the author, please let me know and I will give credit where credit is due.

“Christmas should disturb, trouble us.  Does not His beauty shame us?  Does not His truth unmask us?  Does not His love overwhelm us?  We are or ought to be frightened people.

Perhaps this is why we like to keep the Christmas story a sentimental story of a precious baby.  It is all so very cozy to talk about a little child born so innocent into our world. But to do so, makes Christmas a fairy story, just a day of make believe.

Listen, the story of Christ is not tinsel and baubles,  It is more than sparkling trees, mysterious packages, smiling faces and laughing children. It is not cash registers and gaudy gifts.

Christmas is the simple, plain truth that in the birth of Jesus, God has come and whether we like it  or not we are confronted by His presence.  Frightening?  Yes…Mankind does every thing possible to avoid God invading their world. How mistaken they are.
Because for all who welcome God into their lives, trust Him, He said, “Fear Not” – “Do not be afraid.”

Hear it again – Luke 2:10-11 “But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.  Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.”
